What to do if a fire occurs at home?

  • Call immediately the emergency number 112. If necessary, organise the evacuation of people or provide first aid care for the victim(s).
  • If possible, use the primary fire-extinguishing appliances/agents: fire extinguisher, water, sand. If this is not possible, leave the premises and close the door behind you (do not lock!).
  • Meet the first fire-fighting unit arrived, giving them important information: the location of people, water pipelines, explosive substances, switchboards, etc.
  • If necessary, organize the guarding of the scene after the occurrence of fire with the help of relevant services.
  • Report the incident to Salva as soon as possible and coordinate any further activities with the loss adjuster. You can complete the initial loss notification here.
  • Keep the scene intact for the detection of root causes of the fire. Safe keep the remnants of the property for which you want to receive compensation.
  • If necessary, contact your building manager or the owner.

What to do if you have a water accident at home?

  • Find the cause of the water damage and try to close the pipeline. If this fails, call the building manager or the emergency number 112 and behave according to the instructions received.
  • Report the incident to neighbours, co-workers, building manager or owner.
  • Start cleaning and drying immediately, organise the evacuation of or apply protective film on your property, and raise any moisture-sensitive objects higher.
  • Report the incident to Salva as soon as possible and arrange the inspection time with the loss adjuster. You can complete the initial loss notification here.

What to do in case of breaking and entering?

  • Call 112 immediately and let them know what happened.
  • Keep the scene intact. If possible, do not enter the premises before the police has arrived.
  • If a security company protects the home and patrol crew is not present, report the incident also to the security company.
  • Organise the initial guarding of the scene.
  • Report the incident to Salva as soon as possible; you can complete the initial loss notification here. In cases where the breaking and entering took place on weekend, maintain the broken door locks or other physical evidence until you receive further instructions from the loss adjuster.
  • Report the incident to neighbours, co-workers, building manager or owner.
  • Remain calm; loss adjuster can begin its work only after the police have performed their operations.

NB! Do not change the scene before the loss adjuster has examined it – thus you contribute to the rapid and smooth handling of the loss!
