History

Salva Kindlustus was established in 1993 and is the only Estonian-owned non-life insurance company in the world. Since the beginning of its activities until the present, the majority of shares have been controlled by Estonians and Estonian capital – this allowed us to develop into a stable and reliable insurance company that is based on local conditions and the needs of its customers.

Historical facts about Salva:

- Salva Kindlustus commenced in 1993 by offering the mandatory motor TPL insurance. In 2020, Salva offers more than 15 different insurance products to its customers.

- Salva Kindlustus commenced its activities in 1993 in the office located in Pärnu mnt, Tallinn. In 2020, we have 16 representative offices and sales facilities across Estonia.

- Salva had 11 employees at the end of 1993. In 2020, it has almost 120 full-time employees.

 

2013: Salva commenced offering its services via the e-channel www.salva24.ee also in Russian and English. In addition, Salva opened the first e-sales environment for apartment associations in Estonia. It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 15.5 million EUR and had 128 employees.

2012: Salva launched a state-of-art customer-friendly e-channel www.salva24.ee that gives the opportunity to purchase travel, home and vehicle insurance under favourable conditions. It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 15.5 million EUR and had 134 employees.

2011: Salva was the first in Estonia to offer insurance for Apple equipment and opened new insurance sales terminals in Tartu and Pärnu. It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 15.2 million EUR and had 129 employees.

2010: Salva commenced the sale of home insurance on its homepage www.salva.ee/kodu24. It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 258 million kroons and had 139 employees.

2009: Salva commenced the on-line sale of motor TPL insurance on its homepage www.salva.ee/liiklus24.
It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 274 million kroons and had 140 employees.

2008: Salva launched a new free service to its motor TPL insurance and vehicles insurance customers – so-called Salva Autoabi. It collected insurance premiums within the amount of 347 million kroons and had 148 employees.

2007: By the year-end, 362 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 149 workers.

2006: By the year-end, 365 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 144 workers.

2005: By the year-end, 313 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 137 workers.

2004: By the year-end, 255 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 130 workers.

2003: By the year-end, 223 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 120 workers.

2002: By the year-end, 161 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 111 workers.

2001: Salva acquired a licence for railroad rolling stock insurance. By the year-end, 113 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 96 workers.

2000: By the year-end, 79 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 86 workers.

1999: By the year-end, 68 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected, the company employed 78 workers.

1998: By the year-end, 56 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 71 workers.

1997: Salva acquired licence for ship insurance, ship liability insurance, aircraft insurance, aircraft liability insurance and warranty insurance. Salva Kahjukäsitluse OÜ was established. By the year-end, 71 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 71 workers.

1996: By the year-end, 59 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 37 workers.

1995: Salva acquired a motor vehicle liability insurance (carrier insurance). By the year-end, 35 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 32 workers.

1994: By the year-end, 13 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 22 workers.

1993: On 15 March 1993, an insurance company Salva Kindlustuse AS was established based on Estonian private capital. The company started its business activities on 1 June of the same year. During the year of 1993, Salva acquired a licence for providing traffic, cargo, fire and natural disastersÿ and other propertyÿs, land vehiclesÿ (travel) accidentsÿ and general responsibility insurance. By the year-end, 2 million kroons of insurance premiums were collected and the company employed 11 workers.
